Our Skillman Youth Council
The Skillman Youth Council is an opportunity for high school sophomores and juniors in Detroit to learn, connect, and bring their voice to shape the future of education in the city. Youth council members deepen their knowledge on education systems change while learning the ins and outs of grantmaking and philanthropy.

Details
The Skillman Youth Council meets bi-monthly, in addition to other engagements and discussions. Terms last for two years. Council members are compensated for their time and are reimbursed for any transportation expenses incurred during their service .
Youth Council Grants
Our youth council members get firsthand grantmaking experience, designing their own grant fund from concept to completion. Youth Council grants are researched, proposed, and decided upon by youth council members.
