Nadia Jahan
Mosammad Jahan (16) is a junior at Benjamin Carson High School of Science and Medicine. She is an ambitious and hardworking student and participates in school and community activities. She is involved in Women of Tomorrow and the Joyce Ivy Foundation. In these programs, she serves as a mentor to make college more accessible to high-achieving young women. In school, she is a member of the Diversity Club, Civics Club, Key Club, and a Clinic Ambassador.
During her work on The Skillman Foundation’s President’s Youth Council, she hopes to advocate for the expansion of afterschool and summer learning opportunities. To help youth cope with the many changes around them, she believes a dedicated, safe, and supportive community is needed. She wants to ensure that through these programs, youth can obtain practical skills that aren’t focused on during school, as well as receive the emotional support that they need to succeed. She is eager to see changes in Detroit for youth.
In Mosammad’s spare time she enjoys watching and listening to true crime documentaries and podcasts. She also likes to watch anime, read, bake, and spend time with her family.
