Makian Chamblis
Makian Chamblis (17) is a junior at University Prep Science and Math High School. He is a Youth Advisory Council member of TeenHype, a youth organization based in downtown Detroit. Makian is relentless when it comes to helping others and fulfilling his tasks. During his time on The Skillman Foundation’s President’s Youth Council, he plans to expose teens to organizations, help high school seniors find jobs, and promote college scholarships.
Makian is devoted to seeing others succeed. In the winter, he helps at the VA hospital passing out blankets and putting up Christmas trees. He plays lacrosse and football. Makian was burned in eighth grade and from that he was given the chance to attend a burn camp which helped him cope with his injuries. From this camp, he was given the opportunity to perform the National Anthem at a Detroit Tigers game. He was selected to attend a national burn camp where he sang the National Anthem and laid a reef at the tomb of the unknown soldier.
