College and Career Pathways

College & Career Pathways – Our Approach

Through this approach we aim to enhance in-school and out-of-school supports, particularly for students in grades 6-12, that provide youth with the inspiration and know-how to pursue postsecondary education and/or career options. We aim to help build a comprehensive and connected system of supports that engage young Detroiters in experiences that embolden them to dream big and equip them with the tools they need to reach their ideal future.

College & Career Pathways are one of three approaches we’re taking to expand prosperity for Detroit youth. Read about our other two approaches: Financial Empowerment and Youth Employment.

The Skillman Foundation

The Skillman Foundation is a grantmaking organization established in 1960 by Rose Skillman. We have granted out more than $730 million and have served as a vocal advocate to strengthen K-12 education, afterschool programming, child-centered neighborhoods, youth and community leadership, and racial equity and justice.

We are in the process of developing a new strategic framework, co-designed with Detroit youth and their champions.
