Let’s Talk with Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist
Our President’s Youth Council, alumni, and other young Detroit leaders met with Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist in a special, in-person Let’s Talk event moderated by President & CEO, Angelique Power. They discussed how youth of all ages can play an active role in shaping policies that directly impact their lives and communities, recognizing that the youth are the architects of our future and their potential should be nurtured by the support of adults.

The Skillman Foundation
The Skillman Foundation is a grantmaking organization established in 1960 by Rose Skillman. We have granted out more than $730 million and have served as a vocal advocate to strengthen K-12 education, afterschool programming, child-centered neighborhoods, youth and community leadership, and racial equity and justice.
We are in the process of developing a new strategic framework, co-designed with Detroit youth and their champions.
