The Skillman Foundation Seeks Examples of Young Black Detroiters Making History
To celebrate Black History Month, The Skillman Foundation is looking for nominations of youth for our 20 Black Detroiters Making History campaign. The campaign will showcase Black Detroit youth making a difference in their communities.
Detroit’s Black History is astounding. Black Detroiters have been on the forefront of the movements, art, culture, and ingenuity that we and the nation at-large celebrate in February and all year round. Now, we want to show the future of Detroit’s Black History.
We will showcase Black youth excellence that makes the world a better place. Young people engaged in service, organizing, leadership, and support in their communities will be honored throughout February 2021.
To qualify, nominees must reside in Detroit and be under 25 years old.
To nominate extraordinary youth, please email Mark Navarro, communications fellow, at email@example.com. In your email, please include the following:
- Nominee first and last name(s)
- Nominee age(s)
- Briefly explain why you’re nominating them. How are they serving, organizing, leading, or supporting in their community? How are they making history?
- A photo, approved to share on social media by the youth(s) (and their parent(s) or guardian(s) if they are under 18 years old)
Nominations are due by 5:00 P.M. on Friday, January 22, 2021.
We will notify you in the coming weeks if your nominees have been selected to participate in the campaign. For questions about the campaign or the nomination process, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
