Reverend Larry Simmons, Sr. is committed to serving the people of Detroit—particularly its children. He serves as pastor of Baber Memorial A.M.E. Church; executive director of Brightmoor Alliance, a coalition of nearly 50 organizations dedicated to serving northwest Detroit’s Brightmoor community; and as a founding member of Every School Day Counts Detroit, a coalition of community organizations and schools focused on increasing student attendance in Detroit. Previously, Rev. Simmons served as political director for the Mayor Coleman A. Young administration. He is a graduate of Wayne State University and Washtenaw Community College. Rev. Simmons is the proud father of eight sons and husband of wife, Betty.
