Mary L. Kramer, Chair, is director, Detroit Homecoming at Crain Communications. Until 2021, she served as vice president and group publisher at Crain Communications, supervising Crain’s Cleveland Business in addition to Detroit. She had 16 years of reporting and management experience at daily newspapers before joining Crain’s Detroit Business in April 1989.

She serves on boards focused on education. She is a trustee of both The Skillman Foundation and Grand Valley State University and was the first woman to be elected president of the historic Detroit Athletic Club. Mary has a bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University and a master’s in integrated marketing communications from Eastern Michigan University. She holds honorary doctorates from Grand Valley, Walsh College, Alma College, Central Michigan University, and Eastern Michigan University.
