This grant supports Mothering Justice’s work to empower mothers of color to influence policy. Specifically, this grant will aid Mothering Justice to conduct a research pilot on how intersectionality – the cumulative way in which multiple forms of discrimination combined, overlap in people’s lived experiences – affects mothers of color (MOC); how lived experiences affect feelings of agency around policy change; and how messaging and programming can be designed to better resonate with MOC. This effort will inform Mothering Justice’s policy agenda and leadership development programming to ensure they center the experiences and voices of BIPOC mothers.
