Metropolitan Affairs Coalition
As we near the fourth quarter of the year, I reach out to ask that you help MAC achieve our goal of 100% Board support – a non-profit best practice. It is important to receive all contributions prior to the end of the year.
We are in the midst of important work to implement the economic development strategy approved earlier this year, including:
Broadband Action Team
This group is developing a roadmap for expanding broadband infrastructure to prepare Southeast Michigan to take advantage of economic, educational, community, and social opportunities created by a robust regional broadband system.
New Future of Southeast Michigan
MAC and SEMCOG are hosting conversations to gather information about the impact of COVID-19 and how to collectively move toward our new future.
MAC has also weighed-in with a letter to the State Budget Director sharing our priorities to ensure transformational change through American Rescue Plan funds. And, in just about one month, we will host the 2021 Shining Light Regional Cooperation Awards virtually where we will be honoring three incredible regional leaders: Robert Reaves, Dr. Asha Shajahan, and Dr. Isaiah “Ike” McKinnon. Read more here.
Board meetings have focused on topics including broadband, the economic development strategy, and addressing labor shortages and the talent pipeline. Our Board Speaker series featured Elizabeth Hertel, Director, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Brian Calley, President, Small Business Association of Michigan.
MAC continues to operate in a fiscally conservative and responsible manner, benefiting from the shared resources and technical expertise of SEMCOG, and building and leveraging relationships to maximize our impact.
It is only with your leadership and financial investment that this unique and important work is possible. Please see the attached invoice sent to you earlier this year.
