The Skillman Foundation

This grant will support Heritage Works to engage 200 Detroit youth, ages seven through 24, with high-quality and high-impact creative youth development focused experiences within safe, supportive, and engaging environments. These experiences will serve to strengthen social and emotional skills, youth voice and leadership, and provide participant with career exposure and engagement opportunities. This grant will also provide support for a partnership between Grow Detroit’s Young Talent (GDYT) and Heritage Works to execute a participant survey directly engaging students who identified a career choice in arts and culture. This survey will document youth perception of the strengths, challenges, opportunities, and threats to achieving the goal of securing employment in that field.
