The Skillman Foundation

This grant will support Motor City Street Dance Academy (MCSDA) to engage 200 Detroit youth, ages six through 24, in high-quality and high impact expanded learning experiences within safe, supportive, and engaging environments. These experiences will serve to strengthen social, emotional, and skills that lead to high-school and post-secondary success, through summer 2022 and school year 2022-23. Through the five elements of hip hop (lyricism, DJing, breakdancing, graffiti, and history of the movement), MCSDA will engage participants in career exposure and engagement opportunities that support sustainable careers in art, community development/organizing, dance, and entertainment.
