The Skillman Foundation

This grant will support Alkebu-Lan Village to engage 60 Detroit youth, ages 11 through 18, with high-quality and high-impact expanded learning experiences within safe, supportive, and engaging environments. These experiences will serve to strengthen social, emotional, and increased awareness and knowledge of principles core to Afrikan Centered Education to increase high-school and post-secondary skill development through summer 2022 and school year 2022-23. The grant will expand the Alkebu-Lan Village partnership with Wayne County through the Youth Assistance Program, increasing access to the suite of experiences and wrap around supports as a proven prevention strategy to youth incarceration or intervention to recidivism.
