COVID-19 Resources for Students, Families, & Grant Partners

Last updated April 21, 2020

In light of COVID-19 Coronavirus, The Skillman Foundation is compiling a list of free or low-cost resources for students and families to help stay healthy, happy, and learning. Furthermore, we will provide resources for our grant partners to support their work and operations during this time. This non-exhaustive list will be updated periodically as new services become available.

The City of Detroit and the Community Education Commission have also launched a comprehensive list of resources for students and families, including resources on food, learning, volunteering, and more. Click here to view their website.

Furthermore, the United Way for Southeastern Michigan has launched a COVID-19 Community Response Fund to help residents meet their needs during this time. Click here to learn more.

Finally, we want to hear from Detroit students about their questions, concerns, and feelings surrounding school closures. Click here to learn how they can participate in our #DetroitScholar campaign.

The Skillman Foundation

The Skillman Foundation is a grantmaking organization established in 1960 by Rose Skillman. We have granted out more than $730 million and have served as a vocal advocate to strengthen K-12 education, afterschool programming, child-centered neighborhoods, youth and community leadership, and racial equity and justice.

We are in the process of developing a new strategic framework, co-designed with Detroit youth and their champions.
