Afterschool Program Database for Metro Detroit Youth Launches

A new online resource for youth and families is designed to help find meaningful afterschool programs to support the growth and development of Metro Detroit youth.

Discover Your Spark, launched by the Youth Development Resource Center (YDRC), is a comprehensive database of aftershool programming in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties for youth ages four to 18.

Programs can be searched for and filtered by target age range, location, and area of interest, as well as cost and time of year in which the program takes place. The goal is to showcase safe, supportive, and quality afterschool programs to help youth grow and develop outside of the classroom.

Afterschool programming providers can contact YDRC to add their programs to the database.

Discover Your Spark is supported by the United Way for Southeastern Michigan and the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation.

The Skillman Foundation

The Skillman Foundation is a grantmaking organization established in 1960 by Rose Skillman. We have granted out more than $730 million and have served as a vocal advocate to strengthen K-12 education, afterschool programming, child-centered neighborhoods, youth and community leadership, and racial equity and justice.

We are in the process of developing a new strategic framework, co-designed with Detroit youth and their champions.
