Kim Newberry

Kim Newberry is the founder and president of Developing K.I.D.S.

Kim knows first-hand the struggles that Detroit youth face. Her drive to begin and build a community-based organization to address the needs of youth ages 5-18 enrolled in struggling schools and economically challenged communities grew out of her own experiences. Prior to founding Developing KIDS, Kim was a Detroit Public Schools teacher and a director of prevention services at Alternatives For Girls. She includes among her honors and awards the Bridge to the Future award (2009), Community Connections Passion & Purpose award (2011), a Testimonial & Resolution from the Detroit City Council (2013), and a National After School Matters (NASM) Fellow (2015-2017). She serves as the chief administrator for two programs under Don Bosco Hall, overseeing operations of the community center and leading the Youth Development Initiative under the Youth Development Alliance.
