Natalie Fotias, communications officer, joined the Skillman Foundation in October 2015. She is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to help advance the Foundation’s mission and the work of its grantees. Fotias is dedicated to serving the Detroit community, helping to ensure a vibrant and healthy life for all. She is driven by the belief that the city’s future lies in its children.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Fotias served as campaign manager and communications manager for Gleaners Community Food Bank. She oversaw Gleaners’ multimedia campaigns, as well as signature special events including the Women’s Power Breakfast. Fotias has also worked in fund raising at Muscular Dystrophy Association and managed the launch of lululemon athletica in Michigan, responsible for the company’s branding and public relations efforts in anticipation of their brick-and-mortar presence.
Fotias received her master’s degree in communications from Wayne State University, and a bachelor’s degree in film and video production from Columbia College Chicago. She was born and raised in Detroit and its metro area. She is married to Sam Fotias and has a son named Costa.
