This grant will support Special Olympics of Michigan (SOMI), in partnership with Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD), to provide district wide high-quality and high impact in-school and afterschool experiences, within safe, supportive, and engaging environments to DPSCD’s Exceptional Student population. These experiences will serve to strengthen social and emotional skill sets, providing equal access to sports opportunities, and create an inclusive community for all DPSCD students. This grant will also support SOMI and DPSCD to pilot an afterschool sports program to create a connected experience for general population and exceptional student athletes
