The Skillman Foundation

This $15,000 President’s Discretionary Grant will provide seed funding for a first-ever Youth Stage at Concert of Colors. Coordinated by DEYA (Detroit Excellence in Youth Arts), an initiative founded by Rick Sperling at the Children’s Foundation, the Youth Stage will showcase the best of youth arts organizations and student performers each year. The Concert of Colors feels this new special project is consistent with the community-based focus of our event. The goal is to provide a platform and showcase for the many emerging young performers – age 11-18 – in the City of Detroit and providing direct financial support to the development of these young artists. All students who perform will be paid or provided a mini-grant for their performances.
