Skillman invests in School Leadership Network

The School Leadership Network seeks to create a pool of potential principals for urban schools and retool veteran principals to more effectively meet the needs of urban leaders and their families. Receiving grants were the School District of the city of Detroit ($262,000), the Archdiocese of Detroit ($180,000), and The Charter Schools Development & Performance Institute ($203,000). These organizations provide a comprehensive program of professional development for veteran and aspiring principals based on standards for effective principals.

Announcing the School Leadership Network grants, Carol Goss, vice president, programs, The Skillman Foundation, said, "We are bringing together educators from the Archdiocese, charter schools, Detroit Public Schools and others to develop a collaborative approach to helping the urban principal become a leader in addressing the holistic needs of urban children."
