Skillman Foundation names Dorrian McGhee communications manager

DETROIT - Dorrian L. McGhee has joined the Skillman Foundation as communications manager. She comes to the Foundation after 14 years with the Detroit Free Press' editorial page, where she was responsible for editing and managing letters to the editor as well as contributing to the Skillman-sponsored Yak's Corner.

"Communications is a very important part of our strategy to advance an agenda for Detroit's children," said Carol Goss, Skillman Foundation president & CEO. "Dorrian is a talented and energetic communicator, and I'm very happy she's joined our team."

McGhee has a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in Communication, and a Master of Science degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. In her new role at the Foundation she reports to Director of Communications & Technology William Hanson.

"I love Detroit and I love children," McGhee said. "I'm grateful, honored and very excited about this opportunity."

Created in 1960, the Skillman Foundation is a private philanthropy committed to helping children in metropolitan Detroit by improving their homes, schools and neighborhoods. Skillman grantmaking supports nonprofit organizations, schools and agencies in Wayne, Macomb and Oakland Counties, with a special emphasis on organizations working in the city of Detroit.
