Skillman CFO to run new foundation

DETROIT – The Skillman Foundation’s Treasurer & Chief Financial Officer, Andrea M. Cole, has been named executive director of the Detroit-based Ethel & James Flinn Foundation. Cole, who will begin her new job in January, has been with The Skillman Foundation for 20 years.

“Everyone here will miss Andrea terribly,” said Foundation President & CEO Carol Goss. “We’re losing a remarkable woman, but we’re also very proud that Andrea will lead a new and important Detroit Foundation, whose mission is to improve the mental health system. We wish her all the best. I am confident she’ll be a terrific leader.”

Created in 1960, The Skillman Foundation is a private philanthropy whose chief aim is to help develop good schools and good neighborhoods for children. Though grants are made throughout Southeast Michigan, most grants are directed at six Detroit neighborhoods – Southwest Detroit (Vernor and Chadsey/Condon), Brightmoor, Osborn, Central and Cody/Rouge – and toward innovative and successful schools throughout the city of Detroit.
