Open Arms honors Allen
DETROIT -- St. John Health's Open Arms program will honor Skillman Foundation Vice President of Program Tonya Allen Wednesday for her dedication to changing the lives of children and families.
The awards ceremony is part of the 10th annual Good Grief Fundraising event, which also includes a buffet dinner and silent auction. Open Arms is celebrating 10 years of providing access to mental health care for children and families affected by grief because of the loss of a loved one or grief caused by trauma resulting from violence.
Other award recipients include Dr. Elango Edhayan, trauma medical director for St. John Hospital, and Communities in Schools. The event takes place from 5:30-7:30 Wednesday at the Silver Garden of Southfield. Tickets are $50 and all proceeds benefit Open Arms.
