New leadership for education program

Skillman Foundation Program Director Alison Harmon has left the Foundation to pursue other opportunities.

Dr. Harmon, who joined the Foundation in September 2001, directed the Foundation’s education grantmaking.

“Alison made significant contributions in helping push our agenda for education reform,” said Skillman Foundation President & CEO Carol Goss. “We appreciate all that she did on behalf of Detroit children, and we wish her the very best in her new endeavors.”

Skillman Foundation Program Director Tonya Allen will take over responsibility for the Foundation’s education program area.

Created in 1960, the Skillman Foundation is a private philanthropy committed to helping children in metropolitan Detroit by improving their homes, schools and neighborhoods. Skillman grantmaking supports nonprofit organizations, schools and agencies in Wayne, Macomb and Oakland Counties, with a special emphasis on organizations working in the city of Detroit.
