Gospel Concert Raises Funds for Parent Help Center Project

A gospel concert to help raise funds to continue a project originally funded by The Skillman Foundation was held in September for the Spaulding for Children’s Parent Help Center Project.

Eight churches have, over a three-year period, partnered to provide services and activities in their neighborhoods to strengthen families. Services include staff training, parent education, information and referrals, as well as children and family support groups.

The goal of the Parent Help Centers Project is to maintain children in their families. Community residents and members of the respective congregations played an active role in determining what services, events and activities each church would provide.

The eight partner churches include, Great Commission Baptist Church, Ebenezer AME Church, First Baptist Institutional Church, The Calvary Baptist Church, Hartford Memorial Baptist Church, Plymouth United Church of Christ, New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and Genesis Lutheran Church. Each church provides services based on the community needs assessment of the geographic area in which it is located.
