Community forums encourage residents to help shape city's future

DETROIT — Four community forum meetings remain in phase one of the Detroit Works project, which kicked off in August with the goal to reinvent the city and shape its future.

The meetings, which take place at various locations in the city, focus on issue-specific topics and seek residents' ideas for improving Detroit. Child care is provided.

The community forums comprise the project's first of four phases, which will continue through December 2011.

Meeting times and locations include 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the American Serbian Memorial Hall, 19940 Van Dyke St.; 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Whittier Manor, 415 Burns Drive; and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the El Kiosko Banquet Hall, 7271 Dix St.; and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, 315 E. Warren Ave.
