Program Directors
Edward S. Egnatios is Program Director, Neighborhoods, at The Skillman Foundation and responsible for coordination of the Good Neighborhoods work. Egnatios has experience in executive management in private business and the nonprofit sector. Serving most recently as the president/CEO of the consulting firm EK & Associates LLC, Egnatios has held leadership positions with O/E Learning Inc., as national executive director of the UAW-Ford Family Service and Learning Centers; United Way Community Services as vice president, Volunteer Services, Communications & Marketing; United Community Services of Metropolitan Detroit as executive vice president; and Dobbs Furniture, Inc., as vice president of Human Resources and Operations. He received his bachelor’s from John Carroll University in Cleveland and his master’s in Community Practice from the University of Michigan. Born and raised in Detroit, he is the son of Arab-American and Latino immigrants, married and the father of four daughters.
Kristen McDonald is Program Director, Education, for The Skillman Foundation. Six years ago, the Foundation launched the Good Schools initiative with the goal of ensuring every child in Detroit has access to a good school. As Program Director, McDonald is responsible for leadership and management of the education grantmaking for the foundation, primarily targeted at schools in Detroit. Prior to her work at Skillman, McDonald served as the chief of staff to State Superintendent of Schools Mike Flanagan. She also has worked extensively in the policy field of early childhood education and was one of the chief architects of the Early Childhood Investment Corporation (ECIC) and the Great Start system, Michigan’s system of education and care for children from birth to kindergarten. McDonald is married and the mother and step-mother of six children.
Chris Uhl is Program Director, Changemaking, at The Skillman Foundation. For the past decade, Uhl worked in the financial sector, most recently as vice president of commercial banking for PNC and also with Comerica Bank as the vice president for middle market banking. Uhl's experience in the nonprofit sector includes serving as a board member for the United Way for Southeastern Michigan and as the past chair of United Way's Leadership Next organization. Uhl, who joined the Foundation in April 2012, has also been involved in community projects such as Hatch Detroit, Kiva Detroit, Cody High School Champions Council and the Green Garage Business Greenhouse. Uhl graduated Magna Cum Laude from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He received his MBA from Wayne State University. Uhl is married and has two daughters.
